I78 is a United States Interstate Highway that runs east–west across the northeastern part of the country. It stretches approximately 148 miles (238 kilometers) from the New York City area to the Pennsylvania state line near the town of Ithaca. The route serves as a major corridor connecting the New York metropolitan region with the eastern part of Pennsylvania, providing access to important cities such as Buffalo, New York and Corning, New York, before terminating near the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
