Hüstereesikadu

Hüstereesikadu refers to energy loss that occurs in ferromagnetic materials when they are subjected to a cycle of magnetization and demagnetization. This phenomenon is a consequence of magnetic hysteresis, a property where the magnetic state of a material depends on its past history of applied magnetic fields.

When a ferromagnetic material is exposed to a changing magnetic field, the magnetic domains within the material align and reorient. This process is not perfectly reversible. As the magnetic field is increased, the domains align in a certain direction. When the field is decreased, and then reversed, some of the domain alignments lag behind, requiring additional energy to overcome internal friction and rearrange the domain walls. This energy is dissipated as heat, which is the hysteresis loss.

The amount of hysteresis loss is directly related to the area enclosed by the hysteresis loop on a magnetization-demagnetization curve. Materials with a narrow hysteresis loop exhibit low hysteresis loss, making them suitable for applications where minimizing energy dissipation is crucial, such as in transformer cores and electrical machine rotors. Conversely, materials with wide hysteresis loops have high hysteresis loss and are often used in applications like permanent magnets where energy needs to be stored. Minimizing hysteresis loss is a key consideration in the design of many electrical devices to improve efficiency and reduce operating temperatures.
