Control valves are used to regulate the direction, pressure, and flow rate of the hydraulic fluid, allowing for precise control of the actuator's operation.

The advantages of hydraulic systems include their ability to generate high forces and torques, their compact size relative to the power they can produce, and their smooth and precise operation. However, they also have drawbacks, such as the potential for leaks, the need for regular maintenance, and the compressibility of the fluid, which can affect precision in some applications.
