A hårdesigner's responsibilities typically include consultation with clients to determine their desired outcome, hair washing and conditioning, precise cutting techniques to achieve desired shapes, and the application of color treatments such as dyeing, highlighting, and bleaching. They also perform chemical services like perms and relaxers, and use various tools such as scissors, clippers, dryers, curling irons, and straighteners to style hair. Maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace is also a crucial aspect of their job.

To become a hårdesigner, formal training from a cosmetology school is generally required, followed by obtaining a license in the relevant jurisdiction. Continuous education is often necessary to stay updated on new techniques, products, and safety standards in the ever-evolving field of hair design.
