Håndsprit

Håndsprit, also known as hand sanitizer or antiseptic hand rub, is a liquid, gel, or foam used to disinfect hands. It typically contains alcohol, most commonly ethanol or isopropanol, as its active ingredient. The alcohol concentration in most hand sanitizers ranges from 60% to 95%, which is effective in killing a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria and viruses.

The primary purpose of håndsprit is to reduce the presence of germs on the hands when soap and water are not readily available. It is commonly used in healthcare settings to prevent the spread of infections. In recent years, its use has become more widespread in public spaces, homes, and schools, especially during outbreaks of infectious diseases.

While effective, hand sanitizers are not a substitute for thorough handwashing with soap and water. Soap and water are more effective at removing visible dirt, grime, and certain types of germs that alcohol may not be able to eliminate. Hand sanitizers are best used for disinfecting hands that are not visibly soiled. Prolonged or frequent use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers can sometimes lead to skin dryness or irritation.
