Hystéroscopie

Hystéroscopie is a medical procedure used to visualize the inside of the uterus. It is typically performed using a hysteroscope, a thin, lighted tube with a lens and a small camera. The procedure is often used to diagnose and treat various conditions of the uterus, such as uterine fibroids, polyps, and endometriosis.

The hystéroscopie is usually performed as an outpatient procedure under sedation or local anesthesia. The patient lies on her back, and the hysteroscope is inserted through the cervix. The procedure allows the physician to examine the uterine cavity, take biopsies if necessary, and remove any polyps or fibroids that are detected.

There are two main types of hystéroscopie: diagnostic and operative. Diagnostic hystéroscopie is used to gather information about the uterine lining and any abnormalities. Operative hystéroscopie, also known as hysteroscopy with electrocautery, is used to remove polyps or fibroids.

Hystéroscopie is generally considered a safe procedure, but like any medical intervention, it carries some risks, including infection, bleeding, and damage to the uterus or cervix.
