Hypocnemis
Hypocnemis is a genus of passerine birds in the antbird family, Thamnophilidae. These birds are found in South America, primarily in the Amazon basin and surrounding regions. The genus currently contains several species, though taxonomic classifications can sometimes be fluid. Species within Hypocnemis are generally small to medium-sized antbirds, characterized by their relatively short tails and often sexually dimorphic plumage. Males typically display more vibrant colors and patterns than females, a common trait in many bird species.
The diet of Hypocnemis birds consists mainly of insects and other small invertebrates, which they forage for
