Hurtiglading
Hurtiglading refers to a method of charging electric vehicle (EV) batteries at a significantly faster rate than standard charging. This is achieved through specialized charging stations that deliver higher electrical power to the vehicle. The technology relies on DC (direct current) charging, where the AC (alternating current) from the grid is converted to DC before it reaches the vehicle's battery. This bypasses the car's onboard charger, allowing for a more direct and rapid energy transfer.
Different standards exist for hurtiglading, such as CCS (Combined Charging System), CHAdeMO, and Tesla's Supercharger network.
