Hulk

The Hulk is a fictional character in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #1 (1962). The Hulk's alter ego is Bruce Banner, a physicist who transforms into a powerful, green-skinned humanoid when Banner experiences stress or anger.

The transformation results from Banner's exposure to gamma radiation during a military experiment, with consequences that differ across stories. Early portrayals featured a gray-skinned Hulk; over time, the color stabilized as green. Some interpretations depict multiple personalities within the same being, including the more intelligent form sometimes called Professor Hulk.

Powers typically include immense superhuman strength, durability, and endurance, which increase with rage. The Hulk also possesses rapid healing, disease resistance, and the ability to leap across continents. Some versions grant additional abilities or greater intellect, depending on the storyline.

In the Marvel Universe, the Hulk is a founding member or long-time ally of the Avengers and a frequent participant in Marvel crossovers. While often driven by anger, he has also served as a defensive force against threats and expressed care for allies, especially Banner's moral conflicts.

Adaptations include television series, animated shows, and films. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayals have included actors Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo. The character remains one of Marvel's most enduring and recognizable figures, with extensive comic runs and multimedia presence.
