HueSättigung is a term often encountered in digital imaging and color theory. It refers to two distinct but related components of color representation. Hue is the attribute of a color that describes its purity, or how vivid it is. It's what we typically perceive as "red," "blue," or "green." Saturation, on the other hand, describes the intensity or richness of that hue. A highly saturated color is pure and vibrant, while a desaturated color appears more muted or closer to gray.

In color models like HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) or HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value), hue is often represented as an angle on a color wheel, typically ranging from 0 to 360 degrees. Saturation is usually represented as a percentage, from 0% (completely desaturated, meaning grayscale) to 100% (fully saturated, the purest form of the hue). Lightness or Value refers to how dark or light a color is, respectively.

Adjusting hue, saturation, and lightness/value are fundamental operations in image editing software. Increasing saturation can make colors pop and appear more vibrant, while decreasing it can create a softer or more muted effect. Sometimes, a photograph might appear dull due to low saturation, and a simple adjustment can dramatically improve its visual appeal. Conversely, over-saturating an image can make colors look unnatural and garish. Understanding these concepts is crucial for anyone working with digital images or color design.
