Holsteiner

The Holsteiner is a breed of sport horse originating in the Schleswig-Holstein region of Germany. Known for their athletic ability, calm temperament, and striking appearance, Holsteiners have a long history of development, dating back to the 13th century. Initially bred as cavalry horses, their lineage can be traced to native marsh horses and various Baroque breeds, including Spanish and Neapolitan horses. In more recent centuries, Thoroughbred and Anglo-Norman bloodlines were introduced to enhance their athleticism and refine their conformation.

Holsteiners are primarily recognized for their success in equestrian sports, particularly show jumping and eventing.
