Hiustyyppien refers to the classification of human hair based on its characteristics. These classifications help in understanding hair texture, thickness, and how it behaves. The most common way to categorize hiustyyppien is through a system that considers the hair's curl pattern.

Generally, hair is divided into four main categories: straight, wavy, curly, and coily. Straight hair, often labeled as type 1, has no natural curl or wave and tends to be smooth and shiny. Wavy hair, or type 2, falls between straight and curly, exhibiting S-shaped waves. This category is further divided into 2A (loose waves), 2B (medium waves that start to get closer to the head), and 2C (tight waves that may resemble loose curls).
