Hitsauspääs, often referred to as a welding head, is a crucial component in automated welding systems. Its primary function is to deliver and control the welding process at the point of fusion. Different types of welding heads exist, tailored to specific welding processes such as TIG, MIG/MAG, or laser welding.

A typical welding head incorporates several key elements. It houses the torch or electrode holder, which directly applies heat to the workpiece. For arc welding processes, it also includes mechanisms for feeding filler wire if required. Furthermore, the welding head is responsible for precisely positioning and manipulating the welding tool along the desired joint. This control is often achieved through robotic arms or specialized linear actuators, ensuring consistent and repeatable weld paths.

Advanced welding heads may also feature integrated sensors for process monitoring. These sensors can track parameters like arc voltage, current, wire feed speed, or even the thermal profile of the weld. This real-time data allows for immediate adjustments to maintain weld quality and can be used for post-weld analysis. The design of a welding head is critical for factors such as heat dissipation, protection from welding fumes and spatter, and accessibility to the weld joint. Its performance directly impacts the speed, accuracy, and overall quality of the automated welding operation.
