Hilador refers to a tool or machine used for spinning fiber into yarn or thread. Historically, the earliest form of hilador was the drop spindle, a simple hand-held device. This consisted of a whorl, typically made of stone or clay, and a spindle stick. The fiber was drawn out and twisted, then wound onto the spindle.
