Hidroxipropilmetilcellulózt, often abbreviated as HPMC, is a semi-synthetic, non-ionic polymer derived from cellulose. It is produced by reacting cellulose with methyl chloride and propylene oxide. HPMC is a white to off-white powder or granular material that is soluble in water and many organic solvents.
