Hengerbe

Hengerbe is a fictional plant species referenced in fantasy literature, world-building projects, and tabletop role-playing games. Descriptions vary by source, but it is commonly depicted as a small to medium shrub valued for ornamental flowers and a distinctive fragrance.

Taxonomically, within the fictional materials it belongs to the genus Hengerba and the family Hengerbiaceae; species names such as Hengerba arvensis are used in some texts. This taxonomy is not real and differs across works.

Description: Hengerbe plants are typically 1–2 meters tall, with slender, arching branches. Leaves are oval, dark green and glossy. Flowers appear as pendulous bells in clusters, usually pale pink to violet, blooming from late spring to early summer and emitting a citrus-like scent.

Habitat: In the imagined world, hengerbe grows in temperate woodland understories and hill slopes on the continent of Loria, preferring moist, well-drained, acidic soils and partial shade.

Uses and cultural significance: Hengerbe is cultivated as an ornamental plant in gardens within many stories. Dried flowers and essential oil are used in perfumery and sachets; in some folk-magic traditions it is associated with healing, remembrance and protection, and it features in seasonal rituals in certain settings.
