These quills are not hollow, but rather are made of a hardened keratinous substance and are shed and regrown periodically throughout their lives. Their coloration ranges from earthy browns and grays to more vibrant, iridescent hues, depending on the specific subspecies and their environment.

Hedgehogpoluts are primarily herbivorous, feeding on the various types of moss and fungi that grow on Xylos. They have a keen sense of smell, which they use to locate food sources beneath the surface. Their social structure is loosely organized, with individuals often foraging alone but gathering in small communal burrows for shelter and during mating seasons. They are known for their shy and reclusive nature, generally avoiding contact with other species.
