Hedenbergiteferrosilite is a rare and complex silicate mineral that belongs to the pyroxene group, characterized by its unique chemical composition and crystal structure. This mineral is a solid solution series between hedenbergite (CaFeSi₂O₆) and ferrosilite (FeSiO₃), with varying proportions of iron (Fe²⁺) and magnesium (Mg) substituting in the crystal lattice. The name reflects its dual parent minerals, combining "hedenbergite" and "ferrosilite" to describe its intermediate composition.

Hedenbergiteferrosilite typically forms in metamorphic environments, particularly in iron-rich rocks subjected to high-pressure and temperature conditions. It is often found in skarns, metamorphosed iron formations, and some igneous rocks where iron enrichment occurs. The mineral exhibits a dark, often black or dark brown color due to its high iron content, and it has a vitreous to dull luster. Its hardness ranges from 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, and it cleaves distinctly in two directions at nearly right angles.
