HealthKitin

HealthKitin is a hypothetical open-standard platform for health data integration designed to unify personal health information across medical devices, mobile apps, and healthcare systems. It is described in technical literature and industry discussions as a conceptual framework rather than a commercial product. The goal is to enable controlled data sharing while preserving user ownership and privacy.

HealthKitin defines a common data model for core health domains, including vitals (heart rate, blood pressure), activity (steps, distance), sleep, nutrition, medications, and laboratory results. It emphasizes data provenance, versioning, and granular consent to support accurate interpretation and auditability across applications.

The architecture typically comprises client SDKs for devices and apps, a privacy-preserving data store, and a consented sharing layer. Data can be represented using open standards such as FHIR resources, with OAuth 2.0-based authorization and standardized APIs to enable interoperation with electronic health records, wearable devices, and consumer health apps.
