Harudian

Harudian is a fictional town and civil parish in the nation of Veridia, situated in the eastern lowlands along the River Lys. It lies about 40 kilometers north of Veridian capital. The population is around 8,200. The name Harudian is thought to derive from Old Veridian elements meaning haer (hedge) and dun (hill), referring to elevated marshland nearby. The town sits on floodplains with a network of dikes, and the climate is temperate maritime with mild winters and cool summers.

Harudian first appears in medieval records as a market settlement. It received a charter in the 14th century and developed as a regional hub for grain and timber. The arrival of the railway in the 1860s spurred growth; industries included textiles and milling. In the 20th century, the town diversified into services and light manufacturing.

Today Harudian's economy centers on logistics, light manufacturing, and agri-services. The town hosts a weekly market and has a small industrial park to the east. Notable landmarks include St. Mary's Church, a 12th-century structure, and the Harudian Museum of Local History. An annual harvest festival draws visitors from surrounding districts.

Harudian has a parish council and is part of Veridia's eastern county council.
