Hangzástonalitás, a term often encountered in discussions of sound and music, refers to the perceived loudness or softness of a sound. It is a subjective quality, meaning it is experienced differently by individuals, and is influenced by a combination of physical and psychological factors.

Physically, hangzástonalitás is primarily determined by the amplitude of the sound wave. A sound wave with a larger amplitude carries more energy and is generally perceived as louder. This amplitude is measured in decibels (dB), which provides a logarithmic scale to quantify sound pressure. However, the relationship between decibel level and perceived loudness is not linear.

Psychologically, hangzástonalitás is also affected by factors such as frequency. Our ears are more sensitive to certain frequencies than others, meaning sounds at these frequencies may be perceived as louder even if they have the same physical amplitude as sounds at less sensitive frequencies.
