Handtruckar

A handtruckar, or hand trucks, are manual wheeled carts designed to move heavy or bulky loads with the operator's guidance. They typically consist of an L-shaped frame, a toe plate for supporting goods, and two wheels at the base with handles at the top for pushing or pulling. The devices are widely used in warehouses, retail, moving and shipping, as well as in offices and homes.

Two main configurations exist. Standard two-wheel hand trucks are popular for their compactness and strength, while three-wheel variants (sometimes referred to as dollies) offer different handling and stability characteristics. Variants include folding or collapsible models for storage, and appliance dollies with reinforced frames for heavier items. Wheel options vary: pneumatic tires cushion rough surfaces, while solid rubber or polyurethane wheels suit smooth floors and reduce maintenance. Larger wheels improve stability on uneven terrain, and some models include adjustable toe plates or removable parts to adapt to different loads.

Typical load capacities range broadly from about 150 to 500 kilograms, depending on construction and wheel size. Materials also vary; steel provides durability while aluminum models offer lighter weight and corrosion resistance. Proper use involves keeping the load centered on the toe plate, tilting the handtruck back to the wheels, and moving at a controlled pace to minimize strain. Some applications require additional aids for stairs or long-distance moves, including stair-climbing hand trucks or appliance dollies.

Handtruckar remain a common tool in logistics and moving operations due to their balance of portability, efficiency, and simple maintenance.
