Halalsäännöt
Halalsäännöt, derived from the Arabic word "halal" meaning permissible or lawful, are a set of guidelines in Islam that dictate what actions and things are allowed for Muslims. These rules encompass various aspects of life, including diet, finance, behavior, and personal conduct. The most commonly understood aspect of halalsäännöt relates to food. Islamic dietary laws, often referred to as halal food, prohibit the consumption of pork, carrion (animals that died of natural causes), blood, and animals that were not slaughtered in the prescribed Islamic manner. The slaughtering process, known as dhabiha, requires that the animal be alive and healthy at the time of slaughter, and that a sharp knife be used to quickly sever the jugular vein, esophagus, and trachea while a prayer is recited.
Beyond food, halalsäännöt extend to financial dealings. Muslims are prohibited from engaging in interest-based transactions (riba),
