Hagelpatronen

Hagelpatronen, commonly known as birdshot or buckshot in English, are ammunition cartridges designed primarily for hunting small game, pest control, and self-defense at close range. These cartridges contain multiple small lead or steel pellets rather than a single projectile, which allows for a wider spread and increased stopping power upon impact.

The term "hagel" originates from the German word for hail, reflecting the appearance of the pellets when discharged. Hagelpatronen are typically used in shotguns, which are firearms designed to accommodate the wider spread of pellets. The size of the pellets varies, with different gauges (e.g., 12-gauge, 20-gauge, or 28-gauge) determining the number of pellets per shot.
