Grænsefordelinger
Grænsefordelinger, in English known as boundary distributions or marginal distributions, is a concept primarily used in probability theory and statistics. It refers to the probability distribution of a subset of random variables from a larger set of random variables. When dealing with a joint probability distribution of multiple random variables, the grænsefordeling of a single variable, or a subset of variables, is obtained by summing or integrating out the probabilities of the other variables. This process effectively "marginalizes" or "averages out" the influence of the unconsidered variables, leaving only the probabilistic behavior of the variables of interest.
For discrete random variables with a joint probability mass function P(X, Y), the grænsefordeling of X is
