Gråal, or gråål in Danish, refers to the European grayling (Thymallus thymallus), a freshwater fish in the salmon family (Salmonidae). It is native to cold rivers and streams across much of Europe and parts of Asia, and has been introduced to other regions in some cases. Gråal prefer clear, well-oxygenated water with gravelly or stony substrates and are commonly found in riffles and runs, though juveniles can inhabit slower reaches and lakes.
