Groß-Gerau is a town in the state of Hesse, Germany, serving as the administrative seat of the Groß-Gerau district. It lies in the Rhine-Main region, near the Rhine river, and is part of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main metropolitan area. The town is located roughly 25 kilometers southwest of Frankfurt and near the cities of Darmstadt and Mainz. It has a population of about 28,000 residents.
