Godello

Godello is a white grape variety predominantly grown in northwestern Spain, particularly in the regions of Galicia and Castilla y León. It is also found in Portugal, where it is known as Gouveio. Historically, Godello was often blended with other grapes, but in recent decades, it has gained significant recognition as a single varietal wine, celebrated for its quality and aging potential.

The wines produced from Godello are typically characterized by a vibrant acidity, a medium to full body, and a complex aromatic profile. Common tasting notes include hints of green apple, pear, citrus fruits like lemon and grapefruit, and sometimes floral undertones. As the wine ages, it can develop more nuanced flavors, such as notes of honey, nuts, and a distinct minerality. The grape's ability to retain acidity even in warmer climates contributes to its balanced and refreshing character.

Godello thrives in the Atlantic-influenced climate of Galicia, where it benefits from the moderate temperatures and rainfall.
