GlobalFoundries

GlobalFoundries (GF) is a multinational semiconductor foundry that provides wafer fabrication services to fabless design companies and integrated device manufacturers. GlobalFoundries was established in 2009 as a spin-off of AMD's manufacturing operations. In 2010 GF acquired Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing in Singapore, expanding its global footprint to Asia and adding existing fabs and workforce. In 2015, GF completed a transaction that integrated IBM's microelectronics manufacturing operations and related IP, enlarging its production capacity and technology portfolio.

GF's technology portfolio covers a range of process technologies—from mature nodes to advanced process geometries—serving customers across multiple market segments. The company emphasizes a turnkey fabrication service, including wafer fabrication, packaging, testing, and related supply chain support.
