Gigabaitides is a fictional taxonomic group described in speculative biology and science fiction to refer to large, colonial protists that form networked, memory-like structures within mucilaginous matrices. The term is not used in real-world biology and has no verified fossil record.

In these narratives, gigabaitides are placed within a loose, paraphyletic assemblage of protists; two commonly cited genera are Gigabaitis and Baitidium. They are characterized by gelatinous colonies that can reach millimeter scales, with iridescent coatings and threadlike filaments interconnecting individual cells. The cells are depicted as possessing mitochondria and, in some accounts, symbiotic chloroplasts, though variations exist across different fictional treatments.

Gigabaitides are imagined to inhabit freshwater and coastal brackish environments, often in sediment-rich zones. They reproduce asexually by budding and fragmentation, enabling colonies to reorganize their structure in response to environmental cues. Some portrayals describe colony-wide signaling that resembles distributed processing, suggesting emergent, memory-like behavior across the networked cells.
