Gießverfahren, also known as casting processes, are manufacturing methods used to shape molten materials into desired forms. These processes involve pouring a liquid material, typically metal, plastic, or ceramic, into a mold cavity and allowing it to solidify. Once solidified, the casting is removed from the mold.

The choice of casting process depends on the material being cast, the complexity of the desired shape, the required tolerances, and the production volume. Common casting processes include sand casting, die casting, investment casting, and centrifugal casting. Sand casting is versatile and cost-effective for large or complex parts but offers lower surface finish and accuracy. Die casting is ideal for high-volume production of parts with intricate details and good surface finish, utilizing reusable metal molds under high pressure. Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is used for producing highly accurate and complex shapes with excellent surface quality, suitable for aerospace and jewelry. Centrifugal casting is employed to create cylindrical or hollow parts by spinning molten material in a mold.
