Gewindelehren

Gewindelehre is a precision measuring tool used to verify screw threads. It checks whether external or internal threads conform to the prescribed geometry, pitch and basic dimensions according to standard thread forms such as metric or inch threads. Gewindelehren are essential in manufacturing, assembly and service to ensure that fasteners and threaded holes fit together reliably and seal correctly. They are commonly used for quick quality checks as part of incoming inspection or in-process control.

Types and variants: Gewindelehren exist for external (male) and internal (female) threads. Many sets are designed as Go/No-Go gauges: a Go gauge should fit within the tolerance, while a No-Go gauge must not, if the thread lies within specification. In addition to go/no-go gauges, there are formlehren that check the thread profile shape, such as flank angles and crest geometry, and other specialized gauges for metric (M, DIN ISO) or imperial (UNC/UNF) threads.

They are produced according to standards from ISO, DIN or national equivalents, with metric threads following ISO/DIN specifications and imperial threads following ANSI/ASME standards.
