Gergóvia
Gergovia was a fortified settlement of the Arverni tribe, located near the modern city of Clermont-Ferrand in France. It is most famous for its role in Julius Caesar's Gallic Wars. In 52 BCE, Gergovia became the site of a significant battle where Caesar's Roman legions suffered a rare defeat at the hands of the Gallic forces led by Vercingetorix.
