Gemengde

Gemengde is a Dutch adjective meaning mixed, varied, or combined. It is used before a noun in attributive position to indicate that the noun denotes a mixture or diversity. For example, gemengde gevoelens means mixed feelings, een gemengde groep means a mixed group, and een gemengde school can refer to a coeducational or mixed-gender school. In predicative constructions the past participle gemengd is used, as in De groep is gemengd (The group is mixed).

The form gemengde is the attributive spelling of the adjective and agrees with the noun it modifies

Etymology traces gemengd to the Dutch verb mengen, with the ge- prefix forming a past participle-like adjective.
