Geenilähtöinen is a Finnish term that translates to "gene-driven" or "genetically determined." It is used to describe traits, behaviors, or conditions that are primarily influenced by an individual's genetic makeup. This concept is central to understanding heredity and how biological characteristics are passed down through generations.

In biology, many aspects of an organism's development and function are rooted in its genes. These genes provide the blueprint for proteins, which in turn carry out a vast array of tasks within the body. A geenilähtöinen trait means that the inherited genes play the most significant role in its expression, often to the exclusion of environmental factors.
