Gasreinigungssystemen are industrial devices designed to remove impurities from gas streams before they are released into the atmosphere or used in further processes. The primary goal is to reduce concentrations of particulates, liquids, solids, and chemically harmful substances, thereby complying with environmental regulations and protecting downstream equipment and personnel.

There are several common configurations. Dry scrubbers use mechanical separators such as cyclone collectors, baghouses, or filters to capture solid particles by inertia, interception, or filtration. Wet scrubbers rely on liquid contact; a spray or packed bed dissolves or captures contaminants, which are then treated or disposed of in a liquid waste stream. Cyclonic separators remove droplets and fine particles by centrifugal force, providing a quick, maintenance‑frequent solution for high‑leaning loads. Electrostatic precipitators create a charge on particles so they are attracted to collection plates; they are effective for fine dusts and have low power consumption. Adsorption systems employ activated carbon or zeolite beds to capture volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Catalytic oxidation units convert hazardous gases into less harmful substances, such as oxidizing sulfur compounds into sulfur dioxide or dimethyl sulfoxide, followed by further treatment.

Applications span petrochemical plants, refineries, power generation, metal processing, and HVAC systems. In many jurisdictions, the design of gas cleaning systems must adhere to standards such as ISO 14001, EN 13384 for dust collection, or local emission limits set by environmental agencies.

Advantages include reduced environmental impact, increased compliance with safety regulations, and extended service life of downstream equipment. Challenges involve operational costs, need for periodic maintenance or regeneration of filter media, and complex integration with existing process piping. Overall, efficient gas cleaning systems are a key component of modern industrial process control, ensuring that emissions remain within acceptable limits while protecting both health and assets.
