Gardinairbags

Gardinairbags, also known as curtain airbags, are a type of inflatable restraint system installed along the upper interior of a vehicle, running above the side windows. They deploy rapidly in side impacts and during rollover events to form a protective shield over the occupants' heads.

Located along the roofline, the devices inflate from housings above the front and sometimes rear doors and extend across the window opening. Activation is controlled by crash sensors that detect side forces or vehicle tilt; once triggered, gas generators fill the airbag within milliseconds.

The curtain cushions heads from impact with the window glass, door structures, or intruding objects and helps reduce the risk of head and neck injuries and ejection. Most systems cover at least the front seating area and may extend to the rear seats in larger vehicles.

Limitations include imperfect protection if occupants are out of position, if the airbag is damaged, or if the system fails to deploy; airbags are not a substitute for seatbelts. They may not fully protect in every type of collision or with certain objects intruding into the cabin.

After deployment, the airbag module and related components must be replaced by qualified technicians; complete system reset and replacement are typically required to restore full protection. Gardinairbags have become common in modern cars and are widely used in many markets to meet side-impact and rollover safety requirements.
