Galvaniseerida

Galvaniseerida is the Estonian verb meaning to galvanize or to coat with zinc. This process is a method of protecting iron or steel from corrosion. The most common method of galvanising is hot-dip galvanising, where the metal is immersed in a bath of molten zinc. The zinc forms a protective layer on the surface of the iron or steel, acting as a barrier against moisture and oxygen. This layer also provides sacrificial protection, meaning that if the coating is scratched, the zinc will corrode preferentially, protecting the underlying metal.

Electrogalvanising is another method, which uses an electrolytic process to deposit a thin layer of zinc onto the metal. This method is often used for smaller items or where a more uniform and aesthetically pleasing finish is desired. Galvanising is widely used in construction, automotive manufacturing, and for everyday items like nails, screws, and fencing. The term "galvaniseerida" can also be used metaphorically in Estonian to mean to stimulate or to rouse into action, similar to the English verb "galvanize."
