Galatheidae
Galatheidae is a family of squat lobsters belonging to the infraorder Anomura. These crustaceans are characterized by their relatively flattened bodies, which give them a "squat" appearance compared to true lobsters. They possess a set of three pairs of walking legs, followed by a chelate (pincer-like) first pair of pereiopods. Their abdomen is folded and held beneath the thorax, differing from the extended abdomen of caridean shrimp. The family includes numerous genera and species found in marine environments worldwide, inhabiting a wide range of depths from shallow coastal waters to the deep sea.
Species within Galatheidae exhibit diverse ecological roles, often acting as scavengers or detritivores, feeding on organic
