Gajendra is a prominent figure in Indian mythology, particularly in the epic Mahabharata. He is known for his exceptional strength and valor, and his story is a testament to the power of righteousness and the consequences of unchecked ambition. Gajendra was a mighty warrior and a close friend of Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers. His name is often associated with the Gajendra Moksha, a famous episode in the Mahabharata where he demonstrates his extraordinary strength by lifting a mountain.

Gajendra's story begins with his birth as the son of a sage named Vashistha. From a young age, he exhibited extraordinary physical prowess and was trained in martial arts by the sage himself. His strength was so immense that he could lift a mountain with ease, hence his name, which translates to "mountain-lifter." This feat earned him the title of Gajendra, or "elephant-lifter," as elephants are often used as a metaphor for mountains in Indian mythology.
