GNSSjärjestelmien

GNSSjärjestelmien, a Finnish term, translates to "GNSS systems" in English. GNSS stands for Global Navigation Satellite System. These are satellite-based radio navigation systems that provide autonomous geospatial positioning with global or near-global coverage. The most well-known GNSS is the United States' Global Positioning System (GPS). Other major GNSS include Russia's GLONASS, Europe's Galileo, and China's BeiDou.

These systems consist of three main segments: the space segment (satellites orbiting the Earth), the control segment (ground stations that monitor and manage the satellites), and the user segment (receiver devices that process satellite signals). By receiving signals from multiple satellites, a GNSS receiver can calculate its precise position, velocity, and time through a process called trilateration.

GNSS technology has revolutionized navigation and positioning. Its applications are widespread, ranging from everyday uses like car navigation and smartphone location services to critical functions in aviation, maritime transport, surveying, agriculture, and scientific research. The accuracy and reliability of GNSS have made it an indispensable tool in modern society.
