GNSSVermessung refers to land surveying that utilizes Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) technology. GNSS includes systems like GPS (Global Positioning System), GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. These systems allow surveyors to determine precise positions on the Earth's surface by receiving signals from multiple satellites.

The process typically involves a GNSS receiver, which can be a handheld device or a more sophisticated multi-frequency instrument. These receivers measure the time it takes for signals from various satellites to reach them, enabling the calculation of a position. For increased accuracy, surveyors often employ techniques such as Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) or Post-Processing Kinematic (PPK). RTK uses a base station with a known position to transmit corrections to a rover receiver in real-time, achieving centimeter-level accuracy. PPK involves collecting data from both base and rover receivers and processing it later using specialized software.

GNSSVermessung offers significant advantages over traditional surveying methods, such as Electronic Distance Measurement (EDM) and theodolites. It is faster, requires fewer personnel, and can cover large areas more efficiently. Applications are widespread, including boundary surveys, topographic mapping, construction layout, infrastructure monitoring, and cadastral surveying.
