Füssen

Füssen is a town in Bavaria, Germany, located in the southwestern corner of the state, near the Austrian border. It is situated in the district of Ostallgäu, at the confluence of the Lech and Forggensee rivers. The town is a popular tourist destination, primarily known for its proximity to the famous Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles.

The history of Füssen dates back to Roman times, when it was a settlement called Foetibus. It later became an important center during the Carolingian Empire and a bishopric. The Benedictine monastery of St. Mang, founded in the 8th century, played a significant role in the town's development.
