Füllstandssensoren

Füllstandssensoren, also known as level sensors, are devices used to detect and measure the level of various substances within a container. These substances can range from liquids and gases to solids, and the containers can vary in size and complexity, from small tanks to large industrial silos. The primary function of a fill level sensor is to provide information about the presence or absence of a material, or to continuously monitor its exact position.

There are numerous types of fill level sensors, each utilizing different physical principles for detection. Common technologies include float sensors, which operate based on buoyancy; ultrasonic sensors, which emit sound waves and measure the time for their return; capacitive sensors, which measure changes in capacitance caused by the presence of a substance; and hydrostatic sensors, which measure pressure exerted by the liquid column. Other methods involve optical sensors, conductivity sensors, and radar sensors, each suited for specific applications and material properties.

The application of fill level sensors is widespread across many industries. They are crucial in manufacturing for process control and automation, in the automotive sector for monitoring fuel levels, in agriculture for managing water in tanks, and in the food and beverage industry for ensuring precise filling quantities. Safety is also a key aspect, as sensors can prevent overflows or detect low levels that could lead to equipment damage.
