Fuxin

Fuxin is a prefecture-level city in the northwest of Liaoning Province, in the northeast of the People's Republic of China. Located near the border with Inner Mongolia, it sits in a coal-bearing region and has long been associated with heavy industry and energy production.

The city lies on a broad plain with geological resources that include coal. Fuxin experiences a monsoon-influenced humid continental climate, with cold, dry winters and warm, humid summers. Precipitation is greatest in summer.

Fuxin's economy has historically centered on coal mining and related industries. In recent decades it has sought to diversify into manufacturing, chemical production, and services, along with ecological restoration and urban development programs aimed at post-industrial transition.

The city administers several districts and counties under its prefecture-level jurisdiction. The urban core concentrates administrative and economic activity, while surrounding areas contribute agriculture and resource extraction.

Fuxin is connected to other parts of Liaoning by road and rail, with expressways and regional rail links facilitating travel and commerce. The population is predominantly Han Chinese, with minority communities and cultural influences typical of the region.

Growth of Fuxin in the 20th century followed coal development; contemporary policy emphasizes modernization, environmental rehabilitation, and cultural preservation.
