Friktionslåsmuttrar

Friktionslåsmuttrar, also known as self-locking nuts or prevailing torque nuts, are a type of fastener designed to resist loosening due to vibration or torque. They achieve this by incorporating a mechanism that creates additional friction between the nut and the bolt threads.

There are several common designs for friktionslåsmuttrar. One type features a nylon insert, often referred to as a nylon-insert locknut or nylock nut. This insert is typically a ring of nylon positioned at the top of the nut. As the bolt is threaded through, the nylon deforms and presses against the bolt threads, generating the required locking force. These nuts are generally reusable, though their effectiveness may diminish over repeated cycles.

Another design utilizes a deformed thread. This can involve deforming the crests of the nut's internal threads, or by having an off-center or elliptical thread form. When the bolt is screwed in, these deformed threads wedge against the bolt's threads, creating a tight grip. These nuts are often more resistant to high temperatures than nylon-insert types.

A less common but effective type is the all-metal locknut. These nuts often have a built-in feature that causes a portion of the nut to press against the bolt threads. This can be achieved through a split sleeve or a specialized thread profile. All-metal locknuts are suitable for applications where higher temperatures or aggressive environments might degrade nylon inserts.

Friktionslåsmuttrar are widely used in applications where vibration is a concern, such as in automotive, aerospace, and machinery construction, to prevent critical components from becoming loose and potentially failing.
