Frazilks

Frazilks are a fictional species native to the frigid, high-altitude regions of the planet Xylos. They are small, quadrupedal creatures, typically no larger than a domestic cat, with thick, pale blue fur that provides excellent camouflage against snow and ice. Their most distinctive feature is their large, multifaceted eyes, which are adapted to gather what little light penetrates the dense Xylosian atmosphere during its long winters.

These creatures possess a unique metabolic system that allows them to survive in extreme cold, generating a significant amount of internal heat. They are primarily herbivores, feeding on a sparse, moss-like vegetation that grows beneath the snow and ice. Frazilks are known for their social behavior, often living in small family groups that huddle together for warmth and protection.

Their primary predators include larger, winged creatures that patrol the skies of Xylos. Frazilks have developed a keen sense of hearing and can detect approaching threats from a considerable distance. When danger is detected, they emit a high-pitched, chittering sound to warn their group and then retreat into small burrows they dig into snowdrifts. Reproduction occurs once per Xylosian year, with litters typically consisting of two to three offspring. The young are born blind and dependent on their mother for warmth and sustenance.
