Forbedrer

Forbedrer is a Norwegian term that primarily appears as the present tense form of the verb forbedre, meaning to improve or to make something better. In ordinary use, forbedrer is used to describe someone or something that improves another thing, as in a sentence like “Produksjonslinjen forbedrer kvaliteten på produktene” (The production line improves the quality of the products).

Less commonly, forbedrer can function as a noun meaning “an improver” or “an enhancer.” This agent-noun usage is relatively rare in standard Norwegian and is more likely to be found in specialized or technical contexts. In everyday language, speakers more often refer to an improvement with forbedring or describe an agent with a longer compound, such as prosessforbedrer or kvalitetsforbedrer, depending on the field.

The noun form forbedring (an improvement) is far more common when referring to a result rather than the actor.
