Fondsgesellschaft is a term used mainly in German-speaking countries to denote a fund management company. It refers to a legal entity that acts as the management company of investment funds and is responsible for the creation, administration, and distribution of funds to investors. In Germany, the equivalent legal form is often a Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft (KVG), which is authorized and supervised by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). The KVG performs key tasks such as setting up funds, appointing investment fund managers, conducting risk management, ensuring regulatory compliance, fund accounting, asset custody relationships, and reporting to investors and authorities.
