Fluren

Fluren is a small municipality in the province of Elden, Veridia. It covers about 28 square kilometers and had a population of roughly 4,180 in 2022. The municipal seat centers on a historic market square and the 12th-century St. Matthias Church.

Historically, Fluren grew around agriculture and regional trade. It received market rights in 1423 and remained rural through the medieval period. The 19th century brought modest growth with industrialization and the railway, and late-20th-century reforms aligned the municipality with Veridia's county system.

Geographically, Fluren sits on rolling farmland with patches of deciduous forest to the north. The Fluren River runs along the southeastern edge. The climate is temperate, with warm summers and cool winters, and about 700 millimeters of annual precipitation.

Economy centers on agriculture—dairy farming and crops—supplemented by small manufacturing and local services. The workforce is dominated by farming, trades, and regional commerce. The population is aging slightly, with a median age in the low 40s.

Government consists of a seven-member council elected to four-year terms, led by a mayor. Fluren maintains a primary school and relies on nearby towns for secondary education. The town hosts an annual harvest festival and a weekly farmers market.
